Named after one of the largest deposits of this clay at Fort Benton, Wyoming Bentonite is a velvety clay that actually carries a strong negative charge which bonds to the positive charge in many toxins. When it comes in contact with a heavy metal, toxin or chemical the clay will absorb the toxin. When it comes to string algae it is effective at killing the nuisance algae that plagues many koi ponds. The other side benefit is that koi love it!
